BUILDING BRIDGES

Building bridges – a claim we took from an interview with graffiti artist Mode 2, who was there from the first minute to help make graffiti become the world wide phenomenon it is today. With his work he built a bridge between art and street art, the different places he travelled, the cultures he lived in… A bridge? What is a bridge? A stream, a river, a lake, a broad street or a gap which you can ollie, if you want, are places where you might find bridges. Most of the time a bridge solves a problem. It helps you to get from point A to B because something is in the way. As we are not a construction firm but a streetwear magazine we see the bridge as a symbol. It is a connection. A connection between what? Between a brand’s history and a retailer, a brand’s message and the consumer, an artist’s story and a brand.

The concept of connection is intrinsic to understand our work. There are so many good brands, artists and stories out there that need a bridge from this side of the planet to another; it would need a long bridge to get that done. Luckily, we can work by e-mail, using electronic connections, that helps. We also like to be seen as a bridge for tiny companies who have the special creative background and the desire to connect with like minded people around the globe. Creative potential should be recognized to increase and improve, so the crap on too many people’s bodies disappears and changes into clothes with an attitude. Clothing can be seen as a functional garment, but the ideology behind it is important too. And that’s why we are about to ollie the gap, build that bridge and make the connections, the connections, the connections…
