PUMA - Pieces Taken From A Diary

Did you ever try to visualize a melody? Under the slogan "This is what happens when tow forms of expression collide" Puma chose some artists of different disciplines to participate in the design of "Pieces taken from a diary - a PUMA graphic book". Ten renown illustrators were equipped with this assignment to transfer their impression of a concert visit of a German band in a graphic way. Thereby the illustrative techniques were as varied and adverse as the style trend of the musicians. Sounds by "International Pony", the "Donuts", "Seed", the "Emil Bulls", "Slut" or "Le Hammond Inferno" were hitting in different combinations on graffiti, freehand drawing, screen design, stencil techniques, tags, sticker-bombing, photographs and collages. For example the artwork to the rocking "Sternen" was designed by a more electronic rooted design agency "Bionic System", with its base in Düsseldorf. Like this, every combination of inspiration was aimed at artistic contrasts. Accompanied was this whole happening by a photographer, who had a close look on the urban artists, on stage as well as behind the show in their own rehearsals. All the works are united in a 60 page thick tour diary: Meant as an experiment to bring together art and music in an innovative way and to link the disciplines subtile together. In a limited special edition (1000 pieces), which will be delivered in a small contingent to special puma dealers. The soundtrack of the tour with one track of each group will be enclosed to the book. Another print run (without a CD) of 1000 pieces is starting its distribution through national and international station and airport bookstores with a prize of 16 € in October. 100 issues are going to a special kind of distribution. They will be sold on a web page of an involved artist association www.weareshit.com, as well as in chosen, international fashion stores (for example "Colette" in Paris).
